It started in a duka in Kikuyu.
Samuel Kariuki grew up sweeping the floor of his mother's shop. He watched her count crates by torchlight after closing time. He watched her lose money to a stolen sack of sugar she couldn't track. He watched her turn away a supplier who wanted paying in full because there was no way to prove the last invoice was ever settled.
Years later, as an engineer at Andela, Samuel built a small POS app for that shop. It didn't crash. It cut the closing routine from four hours to twenty minutes. His mother stopped asking him about it — because it just worked.
A neighbour saw it. Then a cousin. Then a stranger. That's how DukaPro started — one shopkeeper at a time.
